This is my beautiful roommate Emily and her fiance' Jordan. They are absolutely wonderful- so fun and goofy and they truly love each other. They wanted come pictures to celebrate their engagement, which they let me take, and it was such a fun time; here are a few from the day.

A New Kind of Polaroid
Monday, September 28, 2009
One of the jobs I have right now is helping out an 84 year old woman. She is the sweetest thing you will ever meet, and I get to cook dinner for her every time I go to her house. Because I make food for her all the time, she wanted me to look at her recipes and see which ones I would be interested in making. So far, she let me take home two of her 6 recipe boxes to look through. I feel very privileged to be able to even take these from the house, because these recipes are one of things this woman is most proud of. Almost every single recipe is typed with a type writer. She told me she didn't own a type writer, so when her boss went out of town for a week, she set her mind to typing out every single one of her recipes. There must be at least 900 recipes. I just thought that was awesome!

When it's Worth Waking Up
This morning I woke up at 7:30.
Yes, on a Saturday. After a long week of work and internship.
I did it so I could go garage sale-ing with my good friends Angelina and Emily.
Angelina and I went often last semester so we could find things for her paintings, which by the way, you should take a look at here.
It was totally worth it to get up and go, because we had some amazing finds: like these mirrors that I love, a strange tablecloth that I guarantee will make it on this blog sometime, and even a coffee grinder for $1.
Plus, we got Jax donuts. What more could you ask for on a Saturday morning?

Sugar & Spice
I started my internship at Sugar & Spice today! I am so excited to learn more about cake decorating and how a bakery runs in general.
For those who don't know. I have been dabbling in cake decorating for almost a year now, teaching myself how to do things through books and websites. I've also been looking for a place to intern ALL SUMMER, so it's nice to finally start! So in celebration of all things cake, this is the first wedding cake that I made back in August...

Good food, Good friends, Good times
I absolutely love to cook, and I love it even more when I get to share the end product with other people! So last night, I tried out a new recipe: chicken piccata with pasta & mushrooms. I got to share it with two of my roommates, Emily and Ashley, and my good friend Theresa. I think it turned out alright, and it was so nice having an excuse to spend time with those girls! I'm still looking for new things to try, so let me know if you have some good recipes.

Just in Time
Things have been pretty insane this last month with starting a couple new jobs and getting my life in order. So this last weekend was a breath of fresh air when I got to pick up and go to Seattle with my good friend Lindsey. Here are a few highlights...
The Space Needle...
My brother and his girlfriend, Melissa, just moved a little north of Seattle a couple months ago, so it was wonderful getting to see them and stay at their place. Also meet their cute little dogs Conrad and Brutus...
Fun fact: my brother's dog Conrad goes insane when he sees that string and does crazy jumping tricks.
Just liked the quirkiness in this picture...

Every New Beginning...
...comes from some other beginning's end. I'm not exactly sure what beginning is ending for me, but I do know that this part of my life is brand new. Just to catch you up: my name is Amy. I graduated from Biola University in May with a bachelor's degree in Art with an emphasis in photography. Like many graduates, I have no idea what I want to do with that. As a result, I'm in that weird transition stage which only comes from this time in life. I think that's enough for now; I'm sure other things I'm interested in and in love with will unfold as time goes on. Honestly, I'm not quite sure what this is going to be- perhaps it will interest you or it probably won't. All I know for sure, and what I can offer, is my life in a series of tangents.
